The 18 hole Salgados Golf Course set on the flat lands behind the sandy beach of Praia de Gale. The environmental nature of the course is to associate it with a typical Links Course but with the added asset of the sun. It is very open to the elements with little vegetation and lots of water hazards. It requires a technically skilled player to achieve a good result from a round which can often be influenced by the prevailing onshore breeze.
Our rates are for two rounds on the 9 hole Balaia Golf Course. Opened in April 2001 this small and attractive golf course offers the opportunity to improve your iron shots and your short game. It carries the title of Executive Course which in its name implies the quality of its layout and subtle challenges. Located at the back of the Balaia Village Holiday Complex it presents from the first tee a charming view of most of the course with the ribbon of blue sea as its background. A course to test the ability of a golfer to control shot length and direction.
The 18 holes have been laid out over level ground and provide and with the exception of the eleventh and twelve that take the player around and over a lake. It has open fairways for the player with very few trees to present difficulties. The Laguna Course can be likened to some degree to the challenges that are provided by a normal Links course. However, there are many water hazards with strategically placed bunkers in open terrain. These factors combined with the occasional strong wind make for an interesting round.
The 18 hole Millennium Golf Course is located within the Vilamoura Resort area. Martin Hawtree has extended his original concept of the original 27 Holes by adding another 9 and created and creating two individual distinctive courses. These new holes are part of the Millennium Course and wander amongst the parkland of pine tress that are often found on the coast in the Algarve. The course is a pleasure to play with subtle with few very tricky situations except for possibly the Par 3 sixth with its lake on the left of the fairway waiting for erring balls.
Pine Cliffs Golf Course has 9 holes and is a very well maintained course. It is located virtually on the cliff top near Albufeira and is managed by the new Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort. The challenging prize of the course is its ninth hole played from the tee over a ravine with beautiful views down onto the sandy beach. This hole has been given the local nickname of the 'Devils Parlour'. This small and beautiful course is also set among the pine trees and presents a a very pleasant and charming round of golf.
Pinhal Golf Course is situated in Vilamoura as a sister to the other four golf courses. It is laid out through the pine tree forest and is set back from the tourist beach area. The outward nine holes wander through the holiday villas that line the fairways. The well positioned bunkers make the course very enjoyable for the players, testing their choice of clubs and their accuracy.
The Alamos Golf Course is one of the newer courses to open in the Algarve. Located just north of Portimao the 18 hole course is laid out as a neighbour to its sister course the Morgado Golf Course. The fairways meander through a 980 hectare estate with small valleys.
The Alto Golf Course is a 18 hole course located close to the fishing village of Alvor near to Portimao. This course is situated close enough to the ocean to give the player an occasional sea view. A simple par 3 opens your round but it is deceiving to what is in store. The Alto Golf Course is considered a good test of the ability of the player with strategic bunkers, dog-legs, elevated greens and well placed trees. A further noteworthy challenge is the par 5 on the sixteenth that is considered to be one of the longest holes in Europe.
The Gramacho Golf Course near Carvoeiro in the Algarve was originally a nine hole course which has been extended and cleverly redesigned to become a fully fledged interesting 18 hole course. A formidable challenge to its designer! The course covers undulating terrain with olive, almond and carob trees scattered as planted years before by the local farmers. The Gramacho Course is designed for the player to be technically accurate and to know which club to choose before hitting the ball. Anything less will quickly increase his score.
The Laranjal Golf Course is one of the newer courses and is located on the edge of the close to Quinta do Lago Resort in the Algarve. The latest course in the Almancil area has many lakes and obstacles. The narrow fairways of the Laranjal Golf Courses and well defended greens require good concentration and club accuracy to navigate the testing course laid down over a rolling and well defined topography. The Laranjal course has five par 5s, eight par 4s, five par 3s set amongst a mixture of pines, cork oaks and orange trees. To add to the challenge and vista there are five beautiful lakes.
The Morgado Golf Course is situated to the north of the town of Portimao and is the sister course to the Ãlamos Course. The Morgado Golf Course is laid out in a large 980 hectare estate through undulating small valleys. The immediate main characteristic factors are generous fairways and its large greens which place demand on good putting skills. Also, the accuracy of the players shot will be questioned by deep aggressive bunkers.
